Altea seaside town - Alicante province

Influenced by the sea, the town of Altea contrasts the ancient cobbled streets of the old town with one of the Mediterranean's finest palm lined promenades.
One of the few places along the Coast that still retains the Spanish village feel. Altea is divided in two, owing to the national road N-332 which separates the town. Altea has a nice beach and harbour area. Alongside the main through road you will find shops and a pretty church. The most attractive place in Altea is the harbour and promenade, with many nice restaurants and bars.
The little villages inland from Altea and in the mountains are also worth a visit especially Guadalest an interesting fortress village in the mountains, with museums, gift shops and restaurants and spectacular views. Also La Nucia and to the north of Altea with a nice Sunday market, it is well worth a day trip.

A few kilometres from Altea you will find the high hills and mountain of the Sierra de Bernia which reaches up to 1130 metres. From that area you will have a nice view of the Altea area and coastline.
Around Altea a construction boom has been happening over the past few years. Not so much along the coastline but more in the hills surrounding Altea. Thankfully the boom seems to be coming to an end.
In the mountains there are now a variety of hotels and apartments.
On Tuesdays the Altea market is worth a visit. It is one of the largest markets on the Costa Blanca and selling everything from fruit and vegetables to clothing and home furnishings. Altea harbour is a little further along with 360 moorings and containing boats from around the world.
The luxury sports boat harbour of "Luis Campomanes" is beside Pueblo Mascarat, along the coast towards Altea Hills and Calpe . Many hours can be spent watching the magnificent boats and sipping the local wines.
Take in the scenery, play golf, sail, walk cycle, swim explore, sunbathe, Visit the local attraction parks or just wine and dine and chill out. You will not be disappointed.
The Beach of Altea

The over 5 kilometres of beaches along Altea are divided into different sections. The Cap Negret north of Altea, followed by the La Roda and the Cap Blanc to the south. Along the yacht harbour you will find the beaches of Pueblo Macarat. Altea beaches are not those sandy beaches as you might expect along the south of the Costa Blanca and Alicante, but they sometimes offer wonderful views and nice niches to stay and relax.
