Sun and fun on the Costa Blanca

Benidorm beaches are justifiably famous and the resort's continuing success owes much to those fabulous golden bays. Stretching for six kilometres from Levante Beach in the east to Poniente Beach in the west, consistently high quality blue flag bathing, lifeguard patrols, a wealth of water sports and an impressive approach to cleanliness mean these beaches are among the best in Europe. Each has its own particular character so take your pick-

Levante Beach

This is the sandy holiday hub for those who're out for fun and frolics, and is known as the sunrise beach. In high season it can get pretty crowded, although there are quite literally thousands of sun beds (over 5000 in case you're curious). It's backed by a broad promenade sporting bars and cafes and in short...it's lively!

The beach is sandy and slopes gently into the water which makes for relatively safe bathing for the young or less confident water baby. Further out to sea are swinging bridges, diving boards, rafts, slides, a wet playground for the energetic, and lifeguards are on hand throughout the summer season (see below).

Families are exceptionally well catered for. The children enjoy all day entertainment - which can only be good news for parents. Ever experienced that awful moment when having arranged to meet your kids under the sign up yonder, you realise there's a veritable glut of identical signs? Then you'll be mightily reassured by the Council's initiative which provides huge, colourful picture boards to be used as meeting points. Very helpful to children too - I mean, where are they supposed to go for their next lolly? They knew mum's sunshade was the blue one..like the other few hundred...phew.

Poniente Beach

Beyond the Old Town, PONIENTE BEACH is to the west of LEVANTE, and comprises a mammoth golden curl of excellent fine sand. Huge! If you don't want quite such a hectic time having fun in the sun this will be your better option as PONIENTE tends to be slightly less crowded.
There are plenty of facilities close by, but a bit more space. Families,  are well catered for and have all they need to enjoy great swimming (there're no rocks) and sunbathing. Again, the sand is cleaned each morning.

Malpas Beach

You'll find MALPAS BEACH close to the harbour, beneath the port and the castle cliffs. Small, pleasant, and usually not very crowded, it's different again to the two other main beaches.
Dogs are not allowed on any of the beaches.

Remember that undercurrents can be dangerous. take careful note of weather conditions, and the bathing flags, RED MEANS NO SWIMMING,  obey the lifeguards AND HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY.
