Orihuela Costa south of Torrevieja Costa Blanca south
Beaches: La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca, Punt Prima and Mil Palmeras
La ZeniaFive and half kilometres south of Torrevieja on the N332 coastal road this a very pleasant beach, but becomes a little dangerous in high winds, when an undertow develops, however you can move to the safer beach at Cabo Roig along the cliff path.
Yellow flags are on show when the sea is a little rough and red flags when swimming is not permitted. I would recommend NO SWIMMING at La Zenia when the yellow flag is showing, unless you are a very strong swimmer.
Cabo Roig

Six kilometres south of Torrevieja, on the N332 coast road, this beach is ideal in the winter it faces south west and therefore has the afternoon sunshine, a favourite sunbathing spot. Being in a bay it is usually very calm making it very safe for bathing. Drinks and meals are available from Easter to late October at the beach bar. There is a very nice walk along the cliff top to La Zenia beach.
Playa Flamenca

There are two small bays here, just off of the N332 coast road. Playa Flamenca is situated between the bays of Punta Prima and La Zenia. There is a pleasant unspoilt walk along the cliffs to Torrevieja.
Across the other side of the N332 is the urbanization of Playa Flamenca, with two supermarkets and several shops. A large street market is held here on Saturday mornings. The local branch of the ayuntamiento (town hall) of Orihuela is also situated here.
Punta Prima

This beach is set in a bay just to the south of Torrevieja, which can be reached by a pleasant walk along the seashore. There is a nice restaurant on the sea front and a very pleasant cafe on the walk to Torrevieja, also right on the front at Mar Azul.
Mil Palmeras

A long sandy "Blue Flag" beach, ruuning anong the bottom of the urbanisation "Mil Palmeraa
Campoamor

Just south of Torrevieja and near to three golf courses; Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas; this long sandy beach is in one of the best urbanizations of the Costa Blanca. A mixture of properties can be found here including: large detached villas in beautiful gardens, town houses, duplexes and apartments. There is a good choice of restaurants, although many are only open July - August, but gradually it is becoming less seasonal as more British purchase homes to retire in the sun. One can walk the coast to the salt lakes, marina and the splendid beach with dunes at San Pedro del Pinatar at the beginning of the Mar Menor (little sea).
Remember that undercurrents can be dangerous. take careful note of weather conditions, and the bathing flags, RED MEANS NO SWIMMING, obey the lifeguards AND HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY.
