Alcázares - Murcia Province
Holiday town at the Mar Menor Sea

The town of Los Alcázares is the only town in Murcia that is self governed which ensures that the money gained from new developments will be reinvested specifically for the town. The town is popular with Spanish holiday makers, many of whom have been coming from places like Madrid and Cordoba for the whole of August for decades, therefore most of the original apartments in the town have only been used in the holiday season. Now Alcázares is undergoing extensive development including a golf courses a new marina and new parks, developing in a controlled way in order to avoid the over development seen in some area of the Costa Blanca.

The promenade stretches almost to San Javier and is a most pleasant walk. There are a few bars and restaurants dotted along the way, most of which are closed in the winter months, but as more and more ex pats come to live here all year round the winter facilities are improving year on year.
The town
Has a good variety of restaurants, bars hotels and shops, the weekly street market being on Tuesday morning, where you will find plenty of different stalls selling: clothes, shoes, pottery, material, tools, kitchen implements, fruit and vegetables etc.
