Constructed alongside the river Segura in the north west of the province of Murcia, the river is very pleasant in this area, not having become polluted as it is further down by some irresponsible factory owners in the town of Murcia. Cieza town is one of the most ancient in the Murcia province. It contains approximately 32.000 residents and  is therefore a town with a good choice of shops and restaurants.

Cieza is a city privileged by its natural surroundings. One side extends next to the Segura river, in the plain that forms the channel to its left the other is surrounded by mountains, forming a valley of fertile orchards, between the mountain range of Ascoy and the mountain ranges of the Almorchón and Gold.
Mainly a farming area it is unique to Spain as tourists are encouraged to use the footpaths that traverse the farmland.
From the most remote times it has been an important enclave for the union of different Spanish populations. Now the old ways are combined with those of a more recent creation.
