Situated in the north western corner of the Murcia province, not very far from Alicante, this town is know for the growing of grapes and the resulting wines.

Untouched for many years, the surrounding countryside is now being developed with several golf resorts with surrounding new urbanisations.
Jumilla Wine Festival
Fiesta de la Vendimia in Jumilla with a wine fountain to celebrate the wine harvest. The small inland town of Jumilla is an important focal point for the major wine producing industry in the area and this annual event where hundreds of litres of free wine is given away is a thank you from all the bodegas and commercial vineyards. If you have not visited this one before, now is the time to do just that, the wine festival at Jumilla starts 11th August till 14th inclusive, the final day is normally the best day to visit, if you want to take part in the wine drenching, arrive from around 9.30pm, but be prepared to get absolutely drenched in wine from head to toe, and don't forget to take a change of clothing. Roast chicken al fresco, band playing to the early hours of the morning; if you enjoy a fun time, this is the event for you.
