The seven kilometres of beautiful Blue flag, sandy beaches, perfect for sun-worshippers and sports enthusiasts alike. The beaches have a number of cafes and children's playgrounds, which are all immaculately kept.
The Spanish have been using the original village area for many years for the Annual holiday, which takes up most of August, hence most of the apartments in this area are only used for the holiday season. To the north of the town are the modern urbanisations, where many northern Europeans, mainly British, live the year round.

Scuba divers will love the beauty and variety of the seabed, especially in the marine reserve of Islas Hormigas, there are a large number of schools and diving centres for experts and beginners. Due to it's favourable weather conditions and clean waters, the Mar Menor is considered one of the best areas in the world for sailing, with many competitions held at national and international level in it's waters. Windsurfing, canoeing etc, etc. The area is a paradise for water sports fans.
Eating Out & Shopping
The area boasts a wealth of good quality restaurants especially for the variety and quality of the fish dishes; and a wide selection of shops.
Along the promenade, which stretches almost to San Javier airport, are several bars, and a couple of restaurants, serving menu del dia and where you can eat "al fresco" some of the bars close for the winter months, but gradually Los Alcázares is becoming less seasonal, so that these bars are gradual y opening for more months of the year.
